How are murals delivered? Securely framed
A large-format motif from Sylt above the sofa, New York in the entrance area or a quiet abstract work in the bedroom should radiate exactly what you ordered upon arrival: presence, color and high-quality framing. How are murals delivered? For professionally manufactured murals, shipping is therefore part of the product quality. The picture is packaged in a protected manner so that the print, acrylic glass and frame survive the journey to you undamaged - and it can find its place in the room immediately after unpacking.
How are murals delivered?
Wall art is typically shipped as a finished, framed product. This means: The photo print is already inserted into the desired frame, protected by acrylic glass and provided with a hanger. So you don't just receive a loose poster that needs to be framed appropriately, but a wall design that is ready to hang.
This makes a crucial difference, especially when it comes to high-quality photo prints. A picture only appears complete through the interaction of the motif, paper, glass and frame. If you purchase the print, frame and fastening separately, you have to coordinate dimensions, find suitable materials and plan time for assembly. A ready-framed mural takes these steps away from you and creates a harmonious impression as soon as you open it.
At Cosman Photocollection, the motifs are produced on high-quality photo paper and framed by hand. Whether Hamburg architecture, Californian light or an abstract composition: the picture comes to you as a carefully crafted object, not as a DIY project for the weekend.
Protection begins before shipping
A mural consists of several delicate components. The printed surface should remain free of pressure marks, the frame must not be damaged at corners and edges, and the transparent cover must arrive clear and clean. The packaging should be carefully tailored to the format and design.
First, the image is protected against direct friction and pressure. The frame in particular then needs stable securing at the edges. These areas are subject to the greatest stress during transport, for example when a package is placed or moved. Appropriate outer packaging keeps the mural in position and protects it from shocks during shipping.
The specific packaging concept always depends on the format chosen. A small framed picture can be secured differently than a large-format art print for a free wall in the living room or a vacation property. The larger the picture, the more important it is to have dimensionally stable packaging and a secure fit in the box. What is important is not a case that is as elaborate as possible, but rather packaging that fits the product and prevents unnecessary movement.
Acrylic glass instead of classic glass
Many framed wall pictures come with acrylic glass. This material protects the image surface and offers a practical advantage over conventional glass: it is lighter and less sensitive to breakage. This makes both shipping and later installation on the wall easier.
Acrylic glass can be provided with a protective film during transport. It will only be removed once the image has arrived at its intended location. This means the surface remains protected until the last step. When unpacking, we recommend using clean, dry hands and slowly peeling off the film at one corner. Do not rub the surface dry to avoid fine scratches.
What appeals to you about the mural?
If the picture is delivered ready to hang, the print, frame, acrylic glass and hanging device are already connected to each other. You don't have to choose an additional picture frame or insert the motif yourself. Alignment in the frame is also no longer necessary - a detail that quickly requires more patience than expected with special formats.
The suspension is on the back and is tailored to the respective image format. This creates the basis for uncomplicated installation at home. Depending on the wall, what you need is a suitable hook, nail or screw with a suitable dowel. Which fastening is the right one is not decided by the picture alone, but above all by the condition of your wall.
A solid concrete wall, a brick wall and a drywall have different requirements. For heavy or particularly large formats, it is worth checking the load-bearing capacity of the fastening in advance. If you are unsure, choose a solution with sufficient reserve rather than just laying out the picture for light decoration. This way the wall art stays where it is supposed to be effective.
After delivery: How to unpack your mural correctly
The most beautiful moment is often the first glimpse of the subject. Nevertheless, take a few minutes to unpack. Place the package on a clean, flat surface and carefully open it without cutting deeply into the box. Otherwise a knife can damage the frame, the acrylic glass or the back of the picture.
Lift the mural by the frame, not the hanger. For larger formats, it makes sense to have two people take the picture out of the packaging. This will prevent a corner from getting caught or the image from hitting furniture when rotating. First, place it face up on a soft, clean surface.
Then check the frame, corners, glass surface and subject in good light. A quick look immediately upon receipt will give you peace of mind before the packaging is thrown away. It is best to keep the cardboard and protective materials until the picture is mounted. If you later want to transport it, redecorate it or take it with you to a new apartment, the right materials are particularly practical.
The right time to hang
A picture may be hung on the wall immediately after delivery if the packaging and surface are removed. But don't just choose a place based on free space. Wall pictures have their effect when the motif, format and distance match the room. A coastal scene brings space across a sideboard, an urban photograph sets a clear accent in the hallway, and a calm abstract motif can visually bring a dining area together.
First, hang the picture in the intended location as a test or mark the position with a piece of painter's tape. The focal point of an individual mural is often conveniently at eye level. Above a sofa, bed or sideboard, the height also depends on the piece of furniture. There should be enough space between the top edge of the furniture and the bottom edge of the frame so that both appear as a unit without touching each other.
With a very large format, the viewing distance also counts. Details appear different up close than they do from across the room. Take a few steps back before finalizing your final position. This way you not only see the picture, but also its effect in the entire room.
If the package appears damaged on the outside
If a shipment arrives with visible damage, take a photo of the box before opening it if possible. Then document the packaging, frame and image area if necessary. However, open the package carefully and keep all materials. This documentation helps customer service to check the process quickly and comprehensibly.
Not every pressure point on the cardboard automatically means damage to the mural. Conversely, a possible defect should not only be discovered days later. A timely check creates clarity and gives you the opportunity to contact the dealer directly if you have any questions. For handmade, made-to-order images, a personal and solution-oriented service is particularly valuable.
A high-quality mural does not end at the package box. It starts there: with a protected framework, a clear motif and the good feeling that an empty wall can become a place with character without additional errands.
